Church Service in HMS Drake for HMS ARDENT
Over a hundred survivors, friends and families from the HMS Ardent Association gathered today in the Church of St. Nicholas, HMS Drake to remember their 22 fallen shipmates.Leading the service of remembrance Reverend Ken Bromage RN spoke of the courage and sacrifices of ARDENT's crews over the years, not just in the Falklands but also the first and second world wars.The Association president, Admiral Lord West, read out the roll of honour to the backdrop of the new memorial crosses, one for each member of the 22 men killed in action on the 21 May 1982.Cadets from T.S. ARDENT, part of the Bollington & Macclesfield Sea Cadets unit provided a guard of honour inside the entrance of St. Nicholas adding a splash of colour on what was a grey and wet day outside.
