HMS Raleigh Tribute to Ardent

Cordinated by shipmate Steve Palmer, who is a Hanson Division trainee mentor, HMS Raleigh staff and social distanced guest carried out a short service of remembrance at the Plymouth Hoe Falklands Memorial to HMS Ardent in the Rose Garden.

The service consisted of:

  • Gather Hoe Memorial garden for 1800 start, Grant with Ardent Association standard

  • Lay wreath/flowers (PO Ronald)

  • Read out names of the fallen (Steve)

  • Pipe the still (Ronnie), Grant (Hanson Vetran) dip standard

  • Two minutes silence

  • Pipe the carry on (Ronnie), Grant raise standard

  • They Shall Grow Not Old . . . (Jeff, Hanson Vet)

  • Response "We will remember them" (all)

Thank you to HMS Raleigh and Steve Palmer for organising this. In addition trainees from Hanson Division, named after Acting Steward Shaun Hanson marked the anniversary of the death of Acting Steward Shaun Hanson who gave his life on 21 May 1982, while serving on board HMS Ardent in the Falklands campaign.
