ARDENT at the NMA

This year ARDENT’s headed to the National Memorial Arboretum near Derby for our annual service of remembrance, the Ardent anchor memorial becoming the centre piece of our service.

You can watch a short video of the NMA service here.

A special thank you to the padre, the Rev Vic Van Den Burgh, who conducted a very moving service. The words in his address were very poignant. We are especially grateful as he had injured himself the day before and arrived with the aid of two sticks, the association appreciated your dedication, Padre.

Our 22 lost shipmates names were read out by Andrew Gordon-Lennox (XO of ARDENT) and as each name was called a member of the Association placed their cross by the anchor assisted by cadets from T.S. Ardent.

In the evening a gala dinner, raffle and disco were held at out host hotel in Derby, the whole event being organised by Sarah Fletcher
