After ten years of leading T.S. Ardent ( Bollington and Macclesfield Sea Cadets) the 29th January 2024 was Lieutenant (SCC) Karen Black’s last night in command handing over to Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Alex Palfreyman.

Karen has lead the unit through many highs (10 Burgees) and a few lows (Covid) and during her 4109 days in command the unit has achieved 1974 qualifications and awards!

Able Cadets April and Laura surprised Karen with a homemade thank you cake, which was shared with all the cadets and staff.

Lieutenant (SCC) Black will not be leaving the unit altogether and has also recently been appointed Deputy District Officer (DDO) for Chestaffs District and will be staying in touch with the Association.

Along with all at T.S. Ardent, the HMS Ardent Association wish Karen well in her new role as DDO.

Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Alex Palfreyman started his Sea Cadet career as a young cadet in T.S. Ardent and the Association has watched him progress in his career since lighting our memorial candles at the 2006 remembrance service.

We all wish him well with his new command.
