Garry “Andy” Andrews – Chief Stoker

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Garry “Andy” Andrews, former Chief Stoker of HMS Ardent, passed away on Saturday following a very recent diagnosis of a rare and aggressive cancer.

Garry was a valued member of the ship’s company and will be remembered with respect and affection by those who served alongside him.

His children, Debbie and Ben, have shared that he was their rock, and that they are immensely proud of all he achieved throughout his life. His passing has come as a profound shock to the family, and they take some comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Iris.

Gary’s funeral took place on Tuesday 28th April 2026, his son shared: “Thank you to anyone who toasted my Dad Andy Andrew today. Really appreciate it. Here's a photo from the wake with a nod to his naval past. Ben”
